I’m looking forward to hearing about the Wow days… my own PE classes were pretty dismal, so it’s great to read the thoughts of someone bringing positive phys ed experiences to kids.

I can remember my early days substituting before I decided what area I wanted to teach in. One K-8 school had me be their physical education teacher for a week and a half. Those days were memorable and I think back to just how bone-weary and dog-tired I was at the end of every day.
The classes arrived, one kindergarten, the next 8th grade and so on. I was left with equipment, but absolutely no plans or ideas for games, limits, pedagogy, etc. I think this is where I finally learned that to teach well, one must be willing and very able to adapt.
Some people may think that wearing exercise clothes and teaching phys ed classes is a piece of cake cushy position. I, for one, know better. I admire your ability to engage the students and somehow keep the ship afloat. And, I would really like to get the dialogue for that Shipwreck game you played with our team a couple of years ago!
