Shiprwreck: A great warm-up game!

This is a fantastic warm-up game that involves strength, cardio, agility, balance, and team work.  The activity has no winners and is a rotating game.

Use the gym or a field.  The space is a big boat.  I am the captain and yell out lots of commands.  The object is not to be the last one to do something. The front of the boat is the bow, the back is stern, right side is starboard, and the left of the boat is port.

Commands include:  captain coming (stand and salute the captain), boom coming over (lay flat on your stomach with your hands over your head flat),  climb the mast, scrub the deck, jellyfish (bend over and wiggle your hands and feet),  starfish (lay on your back and wiggle your arms and legs, three people in a tug boat ( three people sit in a circle and hold wrists or hands), 4-10 people in a boat (first person sits with their hand up and others sit behind them in a line)………..there are several other commands……

So, if you are the last person to do something……you become a shark and go the port side with your hand on the wall.   When I call “Shark Attack,” all the sharks chase those in the game to the staboard side…..if the sharks tag anybody……they get back in the game and if you get tagged you become a shark.

A really fun game that you can use with all students K- adult………I played shipreck with 50 elementary students this summer, k-6, and they had a blast!!!!!!!

This is in response to your comment at wikispaces.
In our school – yes we have physical education at senior levels for classes XI & XII (16-18 years) & Sports for all the age groups. There are three teachers in our school who teach physical edu & sports. We play Volley ball, Basket ball, Cricket & Khokho (touch and run before you are caught). Yoga is an important part of physical edu. in our school. I have forwarded your request to the teacher concerned. They are not so computer friendly still I think they will manage or I will share with you.
Pl. suggest a platform where we can interact with each other.
